Gold Open Access 

Gold Open Access (OA) is when the authors publish their papers in Open Access journals or books which are free to be accessed and read immediately on publication, without restrictions.  Publishers usually charge authors an Article Processing Charge (APC) to cover the costs of peer-review and publishing.  The author usually pays the APC.

What to consider before publishing in OA journals or books

• The University Research Policy requires research outputs to be shared openly for free dissemination. It does
  not necessitate publishing in Open Access (OA) journals or books (1.1. OA Procedure). 
  • Before submitting a manuscript, check if Self-Archiving in an Open Access Repository or publishing via the Library's Read & Publish Agreements (subscription journals) achieve the benefits of Open Access without you paying the cost.
• Before submitting your research manuscript to an Open Access journal use Think Check Submit.
