Compliance routes

NHMRC OA policy (2022) - Two routes to compliance

Note: The UTAS OA procedure will be revised to include the NHMRC OA policy (2022) requirements.

NHMRC Open Access Policy (2022) provides clear and detailed advice on what is required, and how to comply

New grants
All peer-reviewed publications, supported in whole or in part by NHMRC post-Sept. 2022, must be:
made immediately open access (OA) at the time of first online publication
without any embargo period
published with an open  Creative Commons Attribution International ‘CC BY’ licence (see Section 1.3.3 of the Policy)

Existing grants
All publications produced up to 31 December 2023 must be made open access in a repository or other acceptable location within a 12-month period from the date of publication.
This is consistent with the previous version of NHMRC’s Open Access Policy (2018)  updated April 2020.
