Open Access Week Events
Join us from 20-30 October 2025 for a series of online events exploring Open Access in research and learning - featuring the UTAS Research Repository, Read and Publish agreements, and open educational resources.
All University research outputs must be deposited in the UTAS Research Repository (previously known as the Open Access Repository (OAR)) via Elements.
The University Open Access Procedure outlines the mandatory deposit, timing of deposit and the process to deposit research outputs in Elements for discovery in the University's research repository.
Following the OA Procedure ensures researchers comply with the: Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research, Australian Research Council (ARC) Open Access Policy and National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Open Access Policy.
Deposit publisher Open Access version in Elements for discovery and access in the UTAS Research Repository
Deposit Non-traditional Research Output (NTRO) digital representation in Elements, for discovery and access in the UTAS Research Repository
Deposit unpublished reports and request a DOI in Elements for persistent discovery and access in the UTAS Research Repository
For Research outputs advice and Elements guides, visit Manage your research outputs (sharepoint.com)
Compliance - ARC & NHMRC OA policies require research outputs to be as accessible as possible

Contact Research & Learning Librarians to discuss your publishing strategy and how to get your work seen and cited.
Very recently we discovered figshare had enabled bots which conflated all the UTAS Research Repository statistics. The bots’ statistics have now been removed as they skewed individual author item statistics plus repository statistics reported to external organisations. UTAS Research Repository items now reflect human initiated statistics only.
