Guide developed for RMP Elements and UTAS Research Repository

Deposit the Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM) in Elements for access in the UTAS Research Repository

UTAS Open Access Procedure supports the Green OA self-archiving AAM route.

  1. Follow the Deposit a research output from Elements to the University's research repository to deposit your Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM) into Elements
  2. Once deposited, the Library's OA assessment team reviews and applies any publisher embargo, licence or statement before the AAM is made accessible in the OAR.

See Manage your research outputs (sharepoint.com) for more information.

What is the final author version Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM)?

The Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM) is,

  • the final peer-reviewed and corrected version you receive from the publisher before you sign the author copyright transfer agreement which transfers the author/s copyright to the publisher. Author Accepted Manuscripts are also know as Final Author Versions and PostPrints.

Traditional subscription publishers support the Green OA self-archiving route

Most traditional publishers' have a Green OA policy allowing authors to self-archive the final author version Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM) in their Institutional Repository.

  • The publisher often applies an embargo period and sometimes a publisher mandated Creative Commons licence and publisher statement.
  • JISC Open Policy Finder (previously Sherpa Romeo) enables authors to check a journal's OA policy.

Read & Publish Agreements

The Library via the Council of Australian University Libraries (CAUL) has a number of Read & Publish agreements with traditional subscription journals enabling immediate access to published articles at no cost to the author.
