7a. Evaluating website information

Not all information on the www can be considered scholarly or reputable. Anyone can release information on the www. You are generally expected to source scholarly websites or websites that may review information from other places. Often the scholarly websites will have references to other sources of information, in electronic and print formats.

Wikipedia is a site which may seem to have useful information, however you cannot determine the background of who created the information and anyone can alter this information. Use Wikipedia as a starting point and use other sources to verify the information found in Wikipedia. Reference the alternative sources.
