Quick Search Guide
- Use the drop-down menu to choose whether to search by Keyword, Title, or Author.
- Type in your search terms (see the Search Tips tab for advice on constructing a search strategy)
- Click Go
- Use the options in the Refine Results panel on the left to improve the relevance of your results.
Default Settings
MegaSearch has been set up with the following search settings already in place:
Apply equivalent subjects
- Uses mapped vocabulary terms to add precision to your keyword search
- Example: if you search for workplace injury, MegaSearch will also search the mapped concept Work-related injuries (including occupational injuries) so your search is expanded to include all of these concepts.
Available: Online or On Shelf

Limits your search to material that is available from the Library, either online or in print.

Remove this limit if you want to include results that UTAS Library do not provide full text access to.
To remove search settings, click the grey crosses
Refine Results
You may also choose to limit your search to:
Full Text Online
Removes results that are only available in print on the Library shelves.
Catalogue: Books, DVD's & Journal Titles
Limits your search results to items that are indexed in the Library catalogue (i.e. only books and journal titles, not journal articles)
Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals
Limits your search results to articles from peer-reviewed journals. Peer-reviewed journals are publications that include only those articles that have been reviewed and/or qualified by a selected panel of acknowledged experts in the field of study covered by the journal.
Publication Date
Change the dates or move the slider bar to limit the date range for your search results.
Source Types
Allows you to limit your results to books, ebooks, academic journals, and other formats.
Library Location
Allows you to limit to material that is available on the Library shelves in your location.
Subject
Allows you to limit to results that have the same subject headings.
Publisher
Allows you to limit your results to specific publishers.
Publication
Allows you to limit your results to specific journals.
Language
Allows you to limit your results by language.
Content Provider
Allows you to limit your results to specific databases.
Click on the Show More link for any of these options to see the full range available.
