Law reports available online

Specific law reports are available online, for example Australian Law Reports, Commonwealth Law Reports, Federal Law Reports. You can find these and others by either going to the Library Catalogue or to the Law Reports Available Online help sheet.

 

Indexes to case law

You can find authoritative cases on a subject by searching case annotators and digests in print and online. You can also search full text case law databases using subject keywords or catchwords.

  • ALMD (Australian Legal Monthly Digest)  
      
    Summaries of significant reported decisions arranged alphabetically. Cumulative Tables published every six months. Tables include indexes, tables of cases and words and phrases.
  • Australian Current Law Reporter  
      
    Up-to-date case law, indexes available judgments from the High, Federal & State Supreme courts. Holds important decisions from the Family Court, AAT & selected tribunals. Links to Halsbury's Laws of Australia & Unreported Judgments databases.
  • CaseBase  
      
    Case citator and annotator for over 35,000 cases. Covers over 60 law reports from Australia and the UK. Links to the full text of unreported judgments from the High Court and the Supreme Courts of all Australian states and territories.
  • FirstPoint  
      
    FirstPoint provides access to case references, citation, history, and digest information for Australian cases since 1825.
  • JustCite  
      
    JustCite is an electronic citator of cases, legislation and journal articles from the UK and EU jurisdictions. It now also provides information from selected common law jurisdictions, and from international courts.

  • Austlii  
      
    Unreported judgments from the Australian Commonwealth, states and territories, searchable by general keyword and case name.
  • BestCase  
      
    Canada’s leading law reports (including, among others, Dominion Law Reports since 1912, Canadian Criminal Cases since 1898, Labour Arbitration Cases since 1948) and summaries (All Canada Weekly Summaries, Weekly Criminal Bulletin and several others).
  • CCH Databases  
      
    Provides online access to selected CCH titles subscribed to by UTAS Law Library, including caselaw and looseleaf services.
  • Lawbook Databases  
      
    Lawbook Online is an Australian legal information service offering full-text access to selected law reports and journals.
  • LexisNexis Au  
      
    Provides online access to Australian legal materials published by LexisNexis Butterworths.
  • LexisNexis International  
      
    Lexis is a comprehensive collection of full text legal resources including both primary and secondary material from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and other jurisdictions.
  • Westlaw International  
      
    Full text case law from Australia, the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, Canada, and other countries, searchable by party name, catchword and subject keyword.
