How to find eBooks

Option 1: Use eBooks search function. 

*Best option if you know the title of an eBook or close approximation of.

1. To begin, go to the Library's homepage.

2. Select the 'eBook's button.

3. Enter your search query in the box and select the most appropriate qualifier (qualifiers include: Title begins with, Title equals, Title contains all words, or ISBN equals). Then press GO.

Option 2: Use Megasearch search option.

*Best option if you are unsure of the title of an eBook.

1. To begin, go to the Library's homepage

2. Select the Megasearch Button. Megasearch (EDS) searches across almost all UTAS Library databases and catalogues. Searching from this page will give you the results for books and eBooks only.

3.  Enter your search query in the box and select the most appropriate qualifier (qualifiers include: Title begins with, Title equals, Title contains all words, or ISBN equals). Then press GO.

4. Refine your search by selecting 'items with full text online'.

5. Refine your search further as needed with options such as publication date or language.

Important Information

Some of the UTAS e-books are protected by DRM (Digital Rights Management) systems.         

DRM systems control the use of digital content, such as downloadable songs, DVDs and CDs, games, and of course, e-books.

 

Always check the terms of use before using eBooks.

Finding eBooks via the eBooks portal

The eBook portal is an A- Z listing of  available eBooks. A good tool to use if you already know the name of the title you wish to read or to do a title keyword search.

Finding eBooks via eBook Platforms

eBooks can be accessed through the provider platform. If you choose this method you will only have access to eBooks available through that provider. There are links to the portals through the databases page.

To access the platforms, click the logo:

ProQuest Ebook Central (formally EBL) covers many subjects and allows you to preview and recommend books for purchase.

Safari offers eBooks on technology.

 

EBSCO eBooks

EBSCO offers eBooks in many areas. EBSCO eBooks has taken over NetLibrary, so if your eBooks were previously in NetLibrary, they are now available via EBSCO.
